Golf Wins Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. The golf team finished in first place at the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 574 (292, 282), good for six over par. The Pirates moved up three places to capture the win after finishing in a tie for fourth place at the end of the first day of play on Friday. The event was originally scheduled as a 54-hole tournament, but due to inclement weather it was reduced to 36 holes.

Sophomore John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) and junior Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio) finished in a tie for seventh place, shooting +1 143 (73, 70) and +1 143 (76, 67), respectively. Close behind were teammates junior Rich Brazeau (Portsmouth, N.H.), who shot +2 144 (73, 71) and finished in a tie for 10^th place, and Ryan Castanet (McDonald, Pa.), who shot +3 145 (70, 75) and finished in a tie for 18^th place. Freshman David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) finished the tournament with a +13 155 (81, 74), which placed him in a tie for 54^th place.
