KINGSTON, R.I Seton Hall’s win streak ended at seven matches, as the Pirates fell to
Towson in five games (30-15, 30-26, 25-30, 16-30, 15-11). The win streak was the longest for Seton Hall since winning eight matches in a row in 2003. Earlier in the day the Pirates defeated
Boston College 3-0 (30-28, 30-22, 31-29) at the Ram Classic. Freshman
Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) and sophomore
Tricia Meyers (Cincinnati, Ohio) took all-tournament honors.
Matters led the Pirates in their win against Boston College, with14 kills. Meyers was right behind Matters with 13 kills for the match.
In the second match, sophomore Breanna Leisner (Bloomington, Ill.) had 17 kills, leading the way for the Pirates. Meyers added 14 kills and posted a .323 hitting percentage, and Matters finished the weekend with a 13 kill, 14 dig performance. Senior Jessica Pompei (Fairview Park, Ohio) had 22 digs and fellow senior Jessica King (Midland, Ontario) tallied 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .455.
The Pirates open up BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 22, when they travel to Washington D.C. to play the Georgetown Hoyas at 7:00 p.m.
