SOUTH ORANGE, N.J The volleyball team is poised for a strong start to their BIG EAST schedule, as they look to improve on last year’s 4-10 BIG EAST record when they open conference play this weekend. Seton Hall travels to Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 22, and then flies south to face South Florida on Sunday, Sept. 24.
After a 1-4 start, the Pirates come into the weekend winning seven of their last eight matches, which included a seven-match winning streak, bringing their record to 8-5 for the year. During the streak, Seton Hall won an impressive 21 out of 24 games played.
Sophomore Brittany Rahrer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) heads into league play leading the BIG EAST in assists per game, averaging 13.12 for the season. She needs 242 more to capture fourth place for career assists in the SHU record book. At the Ram Classic last weekend, sophomore Tricia Meyers (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) received all-tournament honors, as Seton Hall went 2-1 at the event.
The Pirates open BIG EAST play at home against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, Sept. 30, at noon.
