SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.-This weekend the volleyball team looks to get over the .500 mark as they host the Seton Hall Invitational. The tournament has four teams, with a round-robin format. The Pirates open up against Fordham on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 9, Seton Hall plays Wagner at 11:00 a.m. and then faces Manhattan to close the invitational at 7:00 p.m. Also competing in the tournament are Wagner and Manhattan.
Seton Hall has won two straight matches and are looking to keep that going as they compete in the invitational. Senior Jessica Pompei (Fairview Park, Ohio) is closing in on the Seton Hall career digs record, needing only four to break the mark. On the season, the Pirates are led by a pair of sophomores, Tricia Meyers (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Brittany Rahrer (Fort Wayne, Ind.). Meyers averages 11.7 kills per match, while Rahrer sets up her teammates, tallying 42.7 assists per match.
After losing their first two matches of the season, Fordham has won five straight, and are now 5-2 on the year. Wagner will face Manhattan on Friday at 5:00 p.m., in the first match of the tournament. Coming into this weekend, Wagner has a record of 1-2, and Manhattan is 1-6 on the season.
