PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Seton Hall volleyball team lost to Pittsburgh, 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-19). The Pirates, who have been swept in four of their last five matches, are now 10-8 overall, and 1-4 in the BIG EAST.
The Panthers jumped out to 10-3 leads in games one and two, and ran out to a 2-0 lead in the match. Seton Hall got off to a better start in the third set, staying close for the early part of game three. With the score tied at 11-11, Pittsburgh began to pull away, and a 6-1 run finished of the Pirates.
Junior Brittany Rahrer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) registered 31 asssists for the Pirates. Senior Kelly Widders (Dublin, Ohio) had a team-high eight kills, and sophomore Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) led the defense with seven digs.
The Pirates look to bounce back when they take on West Virginia in Morgantown, W. Va. on Oct. 7 at 2:00 p.m.
