
Volleyball Falls to Orange, 3-1

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Seton Hall volleyball team fell to Syracuse, 3-1 (30-23, 30-25, 28-30, 30-26), in its season finale. The Pirates failed to earn a spot in the BIG EAST Championship, but ended the year 16-12 overall and 6-8 in the conference.
Freshman Sarah Osmun (Crystal Lake, Ill.) posted 18 kills and 12 digs to lead the Pirates. Sophomore Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) recorded her eighth straight double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Megan Murison (Woodridge, Ill.) led the defense with 14 digs.
Trailing 2-0 in the match, Seton Hall fell behind 6-1 to start game three. The Pirates chipped away and finally tied the game at 24-24 after an Osmun kill. Another kill and an ace by Osmun put Seton Hall on top for good as they won game three, 30-28.
The Pirates got off to a strong start in the fourth game, but the Orange (21-12; 8-6 BE) strung together a 10-1 run to take control of the game, and went on for the victory.
Seton Hall improved from a 16-14 overall record and a 5-9 mark in BIG EAST play in 2006.
