
Track and Field Competes at Michael Johnson Classic

WACO, Texas - The Seton Hall track and field teams competed at the Michael Johnson Classic, hosted by Baylor University on Saturday. The Pirates added competitors in three events for the outdoor postseason.
Senior Joanna Borawski (Bayonne, N.J.) won the javelin throw for the fourth time this season, and broke her own school record with a throw of 43.38 meters.
Sophomore Alexandra McCoy (Goldsboro, N.C.) qualified for the ECAC Outdoor Championships after running the 400-meter dash in 55.08.
Sophomore Chavanne Hubbard (Somerset, N.J.) will compete at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships after reaching the standard times in the 800-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Hubbard finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:13.01, and fifth in the 400-hurdles, clocking in at 1:02.82.
Other top female performers: Junior Imani Gilliam (Pennsauken, N.J.) won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.13. Senior Dominique Washington (Baltimore, Md.) was victorious in the high-jump with a mark of 1.70 meters.
For the men, sophomore James Gurr (Sydney, Australia) won the 800-meter run in 1:50.74. Gurr's time was just .34 seconds from an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Senior Travis Morancie (Mirimar, Fla.) won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.11.
The Pirates return to action at the Penn Relays on Apr. 26-28.
