Golf Ties for Ninth at BIG EAST Championships

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Seton Hall golf team tied for ninth place at the BIG EAST Championsip on Tuesday. The Pirates shot +42, 906, including a third round score of 303 in the final day of competition. Louisville took the team title with shooting 20-under par, and the Cardinals Daryl Fathauer was the individual champion with a -7.
Junior Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio) tied for 21st place after a final round +1, 73, and was Seton Hall's top finisher. Morris shot a +7, 223 for the tournament and improved his score each day at the tournament.
Sophomore John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) was one shot behind Morris at +8, and finished tied for 24th. Zur improved from his second round, 78, with a +2, 74, in the final round. Freshman Ryan Castanet (McDonald, Pa.) tied for 32nd with a 54-hole total of +10, 226, after scoring a +4, 76 during the final 18-holes.
The other two freshman competing, David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) and J.C. Cardamone (Dunmore, Pa.) both a shot an +8, 80 on Tuesday to wrap up their first BIG EAST Championships. Sampson finished in 51st place with a +17, 233, and Cardamone took 59th with a +32 (248) for the tournament.
The Pirates conclude their season at the Rutherford Intercollegiate Invitational at Penn State on May 5-6.
