
Track and Field Participates at Prestigious Penn Relays

PRINCETON, N.J. - Several athletes from the Seton Hall track and field team participated at the prestigious Penn Relays last weekend. The Pirates sent nine relay teams to the competition, including the men's 4x800 squad which qualified for the IC4A Outdoor Championships.
The team composed of Justin McKenzie (Upper Marlboro, Md.), James Gurr (Sydney, Australia), Desmond Perkins (Chesapeake, Va.), and Rob Novak (Bordentown, N.J.) ran the race in 7:24.11 in the Championship of America event.
The men's sprint medley relay team also finished seventh, crossing the finish line in 3:20.47.
In the women's 4x200-meter relay, the team of Adama Pitts (Jacksonville, Fla.), Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.), Toneisha Friday (Somerset, N.J.), and Janielle Brathwaite (Christ Church, Barbados) finished fourth with a time of 1:38.34.
The 4x400-meter relay squad of Alexandra McCoy (Goldsboro, N.C.), Hayes, Chavanne Hubbard (Somerset, N.J.), and Friday took fifth place, clocking in at 3:45.88.
Joanna Borawski (Bayonne, N.J.) placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 42.91 meters.
The Pirates will compete at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships from May 4-6 in Storrs, Conn.
