Dan Merklinger, Baseball

Junior Dan Merklinger led the baseball team to a 9-1 victory over Pittsburgh on May 18. He picked up the decision after pitching eight innings, fanning 10 batters, while allowing just one earned run. Merklinger went 5-7 with a team-high 78 strikeouts on the season as the Pirates finished 2007 with a 25-25 overall record.
