Louisville Too Much For Volleyball

LOUISVILLE, Ky. The Seton Hall volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-10, 23-25, 25-13, 25-12) to Louisville on Sunday. The Pirates are now 10-10 overall, and 2-3 in BIG EAST play.

Sophomore Sarah Osmun (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had a strong match with 17 kills and nine digs. Junior Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) had 15 digs.

The Pirates went ahead 6-4 to start the match on the strength of four Osmun kills. Louisville proceeded to go on a 12-1 run to take a 16-7 lead, and coasted to a 25-10 win in the set.

Set two was a see-saw battle which saw eight lead changes. SHU finally took control after a Cardinal attack error made it 24-21, but Louisville attempted to play spoiler pulling within one point. After a Pirate timeout, Osmun quickly ended the threat with a kill to tie the match.

The third set began close, but Louisville broke away to go up, 16-8, and went on for the 25-13 victory.

Another slow start doomed the Hall in the fourth set as they trailed 8-1, and could not recover, dropping the final frame, 25-12.

Seton Hall returns home to take on Villanova on Saturday, October 18, at 5:00 p.m.
