Volleyball Hosts Rutgers on Saturday

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall volleyball team will welcome in-state rival Rutgers to Walsh Gymnasium on Saturday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. in BIG EAST action.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS

The Scarlet Knights have dropped six consecutive matches including losses to Marquette and Syracuse to open BIG EAST play. Caitlin Saxton leads Rutgers with 108 kills on the year, and Jamie Godfrey paces the defense with 113 digs

Junior Allie Matters became just the sixth player in SHU history to eclipse 1,000-career digs, after a 21 dig performance at Penn on Sep. 21. She is currently sixth all-time on the career dig list with 1,066.

Seton Hall’s Oct. 4 match against Rutgers will be televised by RLS Media (Channel 17) on tape delay. Additional re-airings of the broadcast can also be seen on SNY, the new official television home of the BIG EAST Conference.

MORE ON MATTERS

Allie Matters had another outstanding individual performance in the Pirates’ sweep of Fordham, posting 21 digs in just three sets. Matters leads the BIG EAST, averaging 5.08 digs per set, and was ranked 23^rd in the nation prior to this week’s matches.

WIN ONE, LOSE ONE

SHU will try and put together its first win-streak since mid September starting with today’s contest. The Pirates have alternated wins and losses over the last six matches.
