COMPLETE RESULTS - SCOTTY DUNCAN MEMORIAL

STANTON, DEL. The Seton Hall golf team fired a 5-over-par, 293, in the second round on Sunday, to win the Scotty Duncan Memorial Invitational by two strokes.  The victory is the Pirates’ second in four tournaments so far this fall.

The Pirates shot a 288 in the first round and led the host team, Delaware, by three strokes going into Sunday’s second and final round.  Delaware made up one stroke, but settled for second place.

Four Pirates finished among the top seven in individual performances for the two-day event.

Junior David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) shot a 1-over-par, 73, on Sunday to give him a two-round total of 143, which finished him in second place among all individual golfers. 

Freshman Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) finished in fourth place overall after firing an even-par, 72, on Sunday, which gave him a 1-over-par, 144, for the tournament.

Sophomore Colin Van Es (Granger, Ind.) was the third Pirate to shoot even par or better on Sunday.  He shot an even-par, 72, to finish the two-round event with a 3-over-par, 147, for the event.  Van Es tied for fifth overall.

Junior Ryan Castanet (McDonald, Pa.) shared the overall lead following a first round, 70, on Saturday.  He shot a 6-over-par, 78, on Sunday to finish with a 4-over-par, 148, for the tournament.  Castanet placed seventh overall.

Senior John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) bettered his first round score, firing a 4-over-par, 76, on Sunday to finish the tournament with a 10-over-par, 154.

The individual finishes for Sampson, Spencer, Van Es and Castanet were all the best of their Seton Hall careers.

Seton Hall will wrap up the fall season with The BIG-5 Classic next weekend, Oct. 11-12.  The Pirates tied for second among 15 teams at The BIG-5 Classic last season.  Zur led Seton Hall in scoring with a 2-over-par, 144, which placed him third individually.
