
Volleyball Wins Hard Fought Match at LIU, 3-1

SHU had a rough go of it in the first set, posting just two kills on 25 attack attempts, en route to a 25-10 loss.
The Pirates did not fare well to start set two, falling behind 8-3. However, Osmun stepped up for the Hall, notching three kills during a crucial stretch to get SHU back into the set, 13-10. The Blackbirds (8-9) staved off a few potential Pirate runs, but SHU finally tied the score, 22-22, after a Matusiak kill, forcing a Blackbird timeout.

LIU jumped out to another big lead in the third set, 15-6, but Seton Hall mustered a 7-1 run to pull within three points. Trailing 20-16, the Pirates made another push and eventually took a 22-21 lead after a kill from senior Brittany Rahrer (
An attack error from the Blackbirds gave Seton Hall a two-point advantage, and Meyers sealed the rally with a kill to put the Pirates ahead 2-1 in the match.
SHU got off to a strong start in the fourth set, going ahead, 10-5. After LIU put together five straight points to tie the score, the Pirates regrouped with kills from Rahrer and Osmun to stay on top, 12-10. An ace from Leisner extended the Hall’s lead to five once again at 20-15, as the Pirates went on to win the set, 25-19.
