Track and Field Competes at Collegiate Invitational

NEW YORK - The Seton Hall track and field competed at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in its final preperations for the BIG EAST Championships next week. The Pirates went up against some of the best in the nation at the event, and added three athletes to their postseason roster.
Junior Alexandra McCoy (Goldsboro, N.C.) was the top finisher for Seton Hall, winning the 500-meter dash in 1:13.00.
Senior Greg Gomes (Someset, N.J.) ran an IC4A qualifying time in the preliminary heat of the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 47.66. Gomes ran to an 11th place finish in the finals (48.63).
Senior Justin McKenzie (Upper Marlboro, Md.) secured a place in the IC4A's with a time of 2:28.61.
Senior Adama Pitts (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished the 60-meter dash in 7.68 to clinch a berth at the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Junior James Gurr (Sydney, Australia) placed fourth in the 800-meter run (1:53.63).
Freshman Nick Frimpong (East Hartford, Conn.) also had a successful day finishing 2nd in the high jump (2.08 meters), and fifth in the triple jump (15.09 meters).
The Pirates will compete at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24 at the Armory in New York.
