SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall track and field teams competed at the Seton Hall Last Chance Open on Sunday. Several Pirates won events, and sophomore Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.) clinched a berth at the ECAC Indoor Championships in the 400-meter dash.
Hayes ran to a second place finish, and clocked in a 56.12 to add the 400-meter to her list of events at the Championships.
On the men’s side, senior Dwayne Joseph (Willingboro, N.J.) won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.44.
Junior Rob Novak (Bordentown, N.J.) (4:19.82) and Pawel Kornaszewski (Clifton, N.J.) (4:37.96) placed first and second, respectively in the mile-run.
In the 800-meter run, seniors Bryan Burney (Mebane, N.C.) (1:55.42) and Greg Gomes (Somerset, N.J.) (1:55.65) earned the top two spots.
For the women, Hayes (7.79) and junior Adama Pitts (Jacksonville, Fla.) (7.83) were the top two finishers in the 60-meter dash.
Senior Kerry Cahill (Hillsborough, N.J.) won the 3,000-meter run in 11:01.92.
Junior Alexandra McCoy (Goldsboro, N.C.) was victorious in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.83.
Freshmen Alexandra Hehn (Toms River, N.J.) (3:01.63) and LaVaughn Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) (3:10.31) finished one and two in the 1,000-meter run.
Freshman Donna Joy Alexander (Cliffwood Beach, N.J.) took first place honors in the 200-meter dash (25.77).
Seton Hall will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Boston, Mass.
