Golf Completes Play at Hawks Invitational; Ties for 14th

COMPLETE RESULTS - HAWKS INVITATIONAL

NORTH FALMOUTH, MA The Seton Hall golf team completed play in the Hawks Invitational on Tuesday and finished tied for 14^th among 23 teams competing.

The Pirates finished with a 607 for the tournament, 41 strokes behind Baylor, who took home the team title with a 566.  North Carolina State’s Matt Hill won the individual title by nine strokes with a 13-under-par, 131.

Sophomore Colin Van Es (Granger, Ind.) had a strong second round with a 1-under-par, 71, to finish with a Pirates’ best 5-over-par, 149, for the tournament.  Junior David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) matched Van Es with a 149 for the two-rounds and both tied for 36^th individually.

Junior Ryan Castanet (McDonald, Pa.) fired a 4-over-par, 76, in round two to finish with an 11-over-par, 155, for the tournament.  Freshman Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) shot a 5-over-par, 77, in round two for a two-day total of 156.  Senior John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) also improved in the second round, shooting a 3-over-par, 75, and finishing with a 159 for the tournament.

For the second straight tournament, all five Pirates saw their scores improve dramatically in round two.

Seton Hall will return to action this weekend with the Duncan Memorial Tournament, Oct. 4-5.
