Volleyball Heads to Duke Tournament This Weekend

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall volleyball team heads to Durham, N.C. where they will compete at the Duke Tournament. The Pirates (2-1) will take on Duke at 1:00 p.m. and Georgia at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, and close the tournament with a tilt against Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1:00 p.m.

SHU BREAKS A TREND

The Pirates won its first season opener, and finished above .500 after one weekend for the first time since 2003.

 

MATTERS AND MATUSIAK NAMED TO BIG EAST HONOR ROLL

Junior Allie Matters and freshman Meghan Matusiak were named to the conference Weekly Honor Roll for the first week of the season. It marks the first time in the program’s history that two players have been honored by the BIG EAST in the same week.

 

MEYERS AND MATTERS SELECTED TO HOFSTRA/ASICS ALL-TOURNEY TEAM

Senior Tricia Meyers and junior Allie Matters were tabbed to the All-Tournament Team after hleping SHU go 2-1 at the event. Meyers posted 36 kills and a .321 hitting percentage on the weekend. Matters led the defense with 67 digs, including a career-high 26 against Siena.

 

MATUSIAK SHINES IN DEBUT WEEKEND

Freshman outside-hitter Meghan Matusiak turned some heads at the Hofstra/Asics Invite. In her collegiate debut, Matusiak posted a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs against Siena. She closed the tourney with a 21 kill effort vs. Hofstra.
