Golf Completes Fall Season at The Match Play

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The men's golf team completed their 2009 fall season with The Match Play, hosted by DePaul University, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, at the Pine Needles Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C. over the weekend.
Seton Hall dropped matches to USF and Marquette on Friday and Saturday respectively. The Pirates lost to USF in a second tie-breaker. Seton Hall matched the Bulls, 3.0 to 3.0 and were also tied following the first tie-breaker of seven holes won. Because USF's Devin Hernandez edged Brandon Park (Cypress Bay, Fla.) 2&1 in a matchup of #1 golfers, the Bulls were awarded the team victory.
Against Marquette on Saturday, Seton Hall lost 3.5 to 2.5.
Seton Hall's Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) is the only Pirate to win both of his matchups over the weekend. Spencer bested USF's Robby Carl, 3&1, and defeated Marquette's Ryan Prickette by the same margin.
The tournament was won by the #2 seed Louisville, who defeated Notre Dame, 3&2, in the championship match on Sunday.
The Pirates will now wait until the start of the spring season to continue their quest for a BIG EAST Championship.
