Students, the warm weather means one thing, Spring Sports have begun! Don’t forget the Seton Hall Athletic Department, in a partnership with the Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL), announced the creation of the Pirate Pride Priority Points program for all Seton Hall undergraduate students in the fall. This program allows students to earn credit toward Housing Priority Points for attending on-campus athletic contests throughout the Academic Year. Additionally, Seton Hall Athletics will sponsor a monthly and annual contest to determine who is the MOST VALUABLE PIRATE (MVP)!
Get a head start on your Priority Points for the 2009-2010 year with Baseball and Softball attendance. Don’t need priority points? Attendance makes you eligible to be the monthly Most Valuable Pirate. The March monthly prize will be a $50 Best Buy gift card. The April prize is a 19" Sony flat screen TV.
Seton Hall Athletics is also proud to announce that the Most Valuable Pirate (MVP), the student who has attended the most athletic contests throughout the year, will win a Nintendo Wii. The annual Most Valuable Pirate will be announced at the Saturday, May 2 baseball game against St. John’s at 1pm.
Baseball is in action on Owen T. Carroll Field on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30pm against Manhattan. Your first chance to catch Softball at home is this Saturday, March 21st when they host Syracuse and this Sunday, March 22nd against UCONN. Both days are doubleheaders beginning at 12pm at Ivy Hill Park.
What is the Pirate Pride Program?
This is your opportunity to become an active member of the Seton Hall Athletics family. The Pirate Pride program is open to all Seton Hall University undergraduate students. By attending Seton Hall Athletic on-campus contests including Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Softball games you will receive credit toward Housing priority points and be entered into monthly drawings. The more games you attend, the more credit you receive and better chance of winning a prize.
How do I participate?
The Seton Hall Athletics Marketing staff will be at every on campus contest. Simply bring your Seton Hall ID card to every game and have a Marketing staff member will swipe you in to record your attendance.
How Does It Work?
Each time you attend an on-campus athletic event you will go to the Marketing table to have your ID card swiped. Each game earns you credit toward priority points. Seton Hall Athletics will compile the data and update our records after each game. At the end of each month those attending the most events will be entered into a drawing for a monthly prize. At the end of the year, those students who attended the most events will be entered into the grand prize ‘Most Valuable Pirate’ drawing. The more games you attend, the better chance you have of being entered into the monthly and ultimately the year end drawing.
Does the Pirates Pride Points program get me into sporting events free?
No, SHU students are admitted to Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Baseball and Softball for free with their SHU ID already. The Pirate Pride program is a way for Seton Hall Athletics and Housing and Residence Life to thank you for supporting our student athletes and showing such SHU spirit.
How do I collect my prize?
At the end of each month, those with the highest attendance will be entered into a monthly drawing. The winner of the monthly drawing will be notified by email about their prize and instructed where and when to pick up the prize. The winner will also be announced at a home athletic contest at the beginning of the next month.
Is Men's Basketball included in this program?
No, only on-campus athletic contests will earn credit toward priority points.
If I forget my ID card at one game can I still get the credit for being there?
No, the only way to receive credit for attendance at a sporting event is with your SHU ID card. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
