
Men's Soccer Signs Brian Pereira To Letter of Intent

As a senior, Pereira tallied 13 goals and 11 assists while leading his team to the Union County and Section 2 championships. He was named the Union County Player of the Year and Second Team All-State, in addition to First Team All-Watchung Conference, All-Union and All-Group 4. Pereira will join Jack Freeman (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Adriano Gabriele (West Islip, N.Y.), who have also signed letters of intent to join head coach Manfred Schellscheidt as Pirates. Freeman, a defender from Ridgewood High School, was a Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League Division B First Team selection this past season. He earned a Second Team spot from the Bergen County Coaches Association and was a Third Team All-Bergen choice by the Star-Ledger. Freeman plays club soccer for the Red Bull U18 Academy. Gabriele, a midfielder from St. John the Baptist, is an ESPN RISE Boys’ Soccer Third Team All-American who totaled 19 goals and 26 assists. He was named to the NSCAA/adidas High School Boys All-Region II team as well as the All-State Third Team in Class AA by the New York State Soccer Writers Association. Gabriele led his high school to the Nassau-Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association semifinals and was named the league Most Valuable Player.
