
Golf to Compete at Kansas Invitational, Sept. 28-29

LAWRENCE, KAN. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will continue their 2009 fall season with the Kansas Invitational, Sept. 28-29, in Lawrence, Kansas.
This three-round tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,058-yard, Alvamar Golf Club and will host 14. Joining the Pirates in a very competitive field is Idaho, Illinois State, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, South Dakota, UMKC and Western Kentucky. Also competing in this tournament is one other BIG EAST school, Marquette. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
This is the first time in program history that Seton Hall has competed in the Kansas Invitational.
Seton Hall is coming off two consecutive third place finishes to begin the fall season. The Pirates had a much strong showing at their most recent tournament, the Navy Fall Classic. Seton Hall shot a 6-over-par, 286-288-574, at the two round event. Freshman Brandon Park (Cypress Bay, Fla.) and sophomore Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) turned in strong performances for the Pirates. Park fired an even-par, 68-74-142, while Spencer was only one stroke worse with a 1-over-par, 70-73-143.
Through two tournaments, Park is leading the Pirates with a 72.20 stroke average, with junior Colin Van Es (Granger, Ind.) only one stroke behind at 73.20.
