With set one tied at 20, the Pirates got a kill from sophomore Morgan DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and a pair of errors by Rutgers (9-11, 1-5) to take a three-point lead. Osmun would close out the set with a kill to give the Hall a 25-22 win and a 1-0 lead.
Set two was no contest as Seton Hall raced out to a 20-6 lead before winning 25-11.
The Scarlet Knights fought back to take the next two sets and force a fifth. After leading 4-1, the Pirates fell behind by an 11-8 score before nearly rallying back. The Hall twice cut it to one and staved off a match point, but Emma Chrystal came up with a final kill to make it 15-13.
