WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior Sarah Osmun (Crystal Lake, Ill.) recorded her 1,500th career kill as the Seton Hall volleyball team disposed of Georgetown, 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-23). The Pirates (11-15, 5-5) are back in action on Saturday when they host Syracuse at 2:00 p.m.
Junior Meghan Matusiak (Winfield, Ill.) led all players with 10 kills, while freshman Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) had a game-high 16 digs. Sophomore Morgan DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich.) added nine kills, while her classmate Olivia Trudeau (Shell Beach, Calif.) racked up 29 assists.
Vanessa Dorismond paced the Hoyas (14-13, 4-7) with nine kills.
DeVries started set one with three straight points and the Hall was up 4-0 right off the bat. With a 13-11 lead, the Pirates went on a 10-0 run, nine behind the serve of Trudeau, to seize command and cruise to a 25-14 win.
Leading 18-17 in set two, DeVries came up with a kill, and a Georgetown error followed by a Trudeau ace made it 21-17. The Hall would not let the Hoyas make a run, and Osmun closed it out with a point in a 25-21 victory.
The Pirates raced out to a 19-12 lead in set three before Georgetown put together a 10-4 run to cut it to one. But the Hall regrouped to close it out, with Matusiak coming up with the final kill.
