Debby Murphy Joins Women's Golf Program as Volunteer Assistant

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall head women's golf coach Sara Doell has announced that Debby Murphy will join the program as a volunteer assistant coach for the fall season, which will be the first for the Pirates.
Murphy has been a teaching professional for 24 years, with current positions at Bear Lakes Country Club and Trump National Golf Club. In 1998, she founded the Webster Golf Camp while serving as the teaching professional at Webster Golf Club, before developing The Academy at Webster Golf Club in 2002.
In 2001, Murphy was named the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional of the Year while earning the Phyllis Meekins Junior Development Award in the same year. She was also named a Top 50 Teacher by Golf Digest's Golf For Women Magazine in 2001.
As a player, Murphy has competed in tournaments on the Future's Tour, Australian LPGA, PGA of America and LPGA.
"I am both honored and excited to have the chance to add Debby Murphy as a volunteer assistant coach to the Seton Hall women's golf program," said Doell. "Debby was my swing instructor and coach from the time I was ten years old through my college golf career. She has had a very positive impact on me both as a player and a teacher. Debby has always been a strong ambassador for the game of golf and I look forward to working alongside her. I know that she will be very influential in helping to develop the individuals on this team both on and off the course."
"I am thrilled to have been asked to serve as an assistant coach for the newly formed Seton Hall women's golf team," Murphy said. "Having been working in golf for 30 years, coaching has been the one area I have not yet explored. I am so happy to have this addition to my career."
"Coach Doell has been busy putting together a strong team for our inaugural season," added Murphy. "It is such a bonus for me to reunite with her and we are both looking forward to a wonderful 2010-11 season."
