Stewart Guides Pirates to Finish at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, PA. – Sophomore Isabella Stewart (Wickow, Ireland) shot a 2-over-par, 74, in Tuesday's final round to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to the finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Stewart had two birdies and 12 pars in the final round to fuel a 2-over-par, 74. For the tournament, she was the top Pirate performer, tying for 38th place with a 4-over-par, 73-73-74-220. Stewart's 4-over-par effort is by far the best of her young career. Her previous tournament-low was a +12 shot at last year's Space Coast Classic.

Virginia Tech's Valentine Deion won the individual title at 13-under-par.

Collectively, The Hall had its best round in round three, an 18-over-par, 306, in round three. The Pirates finished in 15th place for the tournament with a 52-over-par, 309-301-306-916. Virginia Tech rallied to win the team title at an impressive 20-under-par. The top six teams in the field all shot under par.

Junior Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) had 14 pars in round three to power a 5-over-par, 77. For the tournament, she was 13-over-par with a 77-75-77-229.

Senior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) finished her first event of the year with a 6-over-par, 78. For the tournament, she finished with a 14-over-par, 80-72-78-230.

Senior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 5-over-par, 77. For the event, she was 21-over-par with a 79-81-77-237.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, freshman Laney Bae (Huntington Beach, Calif.) completed her first collegiate tournament with a 10-over-par, 82, in round three. For the tournament, she was 33-over-par with an 84-83-82-249.

THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field was comprised of 16 other teams including: Akron, Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, Harvard, James Madison, Lehigh, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Towson, Virginia Tech, Yale and Youngstown State.
