NEW YORK – Seton Hall junior Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) was named BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
Â
It's already the second time this year and the eighth time in her career that she's received the weekly recognition.
Â
Aguilar fired an even-par, 72, in the final round of the Lady Blue Hen Invitational to lift the Pirates to a seventh-place team finish on Sunday. Aguilar remarkable career continued with two birdies and 14 pars to fuel an even-par, 72, in round three. For the tournament, she tied for second among 68 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 70-73-72-215. She finished just two strokes behind the individual champion, Harvard's Vanessa Zhang.
Â
It's Aguilar's third top-10 finish in five tournaments this fall, and her second career sub-par tournament, which is tied for second-most in Seton Hall history. Her 70 in round one is her 10th career sub-par round, which also ranks second-most in program history.
Â
Aguilar and the rest of the Pirates will return to the course when this spring opens with the Battle at Bentwater, Feb. 1-2, at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Montgomery, Texas.
