WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - Incoming Seton Hall freshman libero Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) was named to the All-Tournament Team as Best Passer at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, held from July 20-30 at the Chula Vista Sports Dome.
After an outstanding showing at one of 41 national tryouts in April, Warren was rewarded with one of just 30 spots on the USA Women's Junior A2 Team. She again excelled over the first four days of training at Chula Vista, earning a place on the number one Red Team as the squad was divided into three groups of 10. Warren passed at a rate of 2.73 to solidify her position.
Competition began on July 26, with Warren's team competing against 17 others in the Women's International Junior Division. The Red Team proceeded to go undefeated through the week, setting up a match in the championship game against USA Girls Youth National Team on July 29. Warren and company settled for the silver medal after a tough five-game match that went 25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 20-25, 15-9.
In addition to her silver medal, Warren was one of only six girls from her 18-team division to pick up an All-Tournament honor. She also earned a likely invitation to the next round of national team tryouts.
Warren will make her debut for Seton Hall on Aug. 27 against William & Mary in the Tribe Invitational.
