SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's golf program enters its third weekend of competition at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate, scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday. The Pirates will play 36 holes on Sept. 25 and 18 more on Sept. 26 at The Course at Yale.
Joining Seton Hall in the field are Yale, Longwood, Sacred Heart, Penn, St. Johns, Siena, Lehigh, Boston College, Farleigh Dickinson, Dartmouth, Central Connecticut and Brown. The course measures in at 6,121 yards.
"The team feels prepared and confident as we travel to Yale to compete in our third event this weekend," said head coach Sara Doell. "With two solid tournaments played so far, each player has gained a considerable amount of experience that has helped her to gain confidence in herself and her golf game. We have had several individual and team successes over the past two weeks that we will carry with us heading into this weekend."
"After discussing the past weekend with the team, it is clear that we need to focus on our putting and approach shots this week," Doell continued. "Every player feels that she is not hitting enough greens and have had too many missed putts---both costly areas in our scoring average."
The Pirates have had several bright spots, however, in their first two weekends.
"Hannah Basalone has started off her collegiate golf career on a solid note, finishing ninth and 20th in her first two events," Doell said. "She is a strong, silent leader for this team and has been an excellent teammate. Christina Cantú, coming off of a wrist injury, has worked hard to get her game back and has also put in two solid performances. We all look forward to moving into this next event with confidence."
