Pirate Blue Welcomes Seton Hall Football Alumni to the Rock

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, over 80 former-student athletes were in attendance for the Seton Hall Football reunion at the Prudential Center as the Seton Hall Men's Basketball team faced Wake Forest.  Attendees had a chance to socialize with former classmates and athletic administrators while enjoying a Pirates' victory over the Demon Deacons.   

The football alumni in attendance were recognized with a special presentation courtside to honor the first ever Collegiate Club Football National Championship. Seton Hall University's club football team defeated Marist College 20-18 at Jack Coffey Field at Fordham University 39 years ago to the day.  Athletic Director, Pat Lyons and Associate Athletic Director, Bryan Felt presented the original National Championship trophy to Head Coach Ed Manigan; Assistant Coaches Bill Hollar, Frank Carpenter and Jim Lammers and members of the 1972 team.  Lyons said, "I am truly impressed with the allegiance all of our football alumni displayed on Saturday night at our game against Wake Forest.  This strong showing is an indication of the positive things Seton Hall Athletics can achieve moving forward with our passionate and dedicated alums."

Saturday's event was made possible by Joseph Padovano '78 and the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund.  Padovano, a former Football and Men's Golf alum, said "This evening provided the opportunity to reignite old friendships and to forge new ones.  Although our time on the field might be done, there is plenty of excitement around the current Athletics' programs.  We look forward to continuing with this event for years to come."
