Volleyball Releases 2011 Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall volleyball program has released its 2011 schedule, which kicks off on Aug. 26 at the Colgate Invitational Tournament in Hamilton, N.Y. The Pirates, who lose only one starter from the 2010 campaign, will challenge for their third consecutive BIG EAST Championship berth.
On the second weekend of the season the Hall will head to Kalamazoo, Mich. take part in the Western Michigan Invitational, which also includes Liberty and North Carolina. The Pirates' home opener is set for Sept. 6 against Long Island.
American, Tennessee and host Virginia Tech comprise the competition at the Hokie Invitational, played Sept. 9-10 in Blacksburg, Va. After hosting Hofstra, the Pirates will welcome Boston College, NJIT and TCU to Walsh Gymnasium for the Seton Hall Invitational.
Following a final non-conference tilt at Princeton, BIG EAST play will begin for the Hall on Sept. 24 at Pittsburgh. The Pirates will also travel to West Virginia, USF, Rutgers, Marquette, Syracuse, Notre Dame and DePaul in 2011, while hosting Louisville, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's and Connecticut.
"I am very excited about this year's team and schedule," said head coach Kris Zeiter. "We will face a number of outstanding opponents in non-conference play, which will prepare us compete for a spot in the upper tier of the BIG EAST."
The 2011 BIG EAST Volleyball Championship will be held at Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis., with the top eight teams qualifying.
