Men's Golf Competing at Maryland Intercollegiate, Sept. 12-13

CAMBRIDGE, MD. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will head to the University of Maryland for the Maryland Intercollegiate, Sept. 12-13.
An 18-hole semi-private championship golf course located on the north perimeter of the University of Maryland's flagship campus in College Park, the University of Maryland Golf Course is the home of the Terrapins' men's and women's golf teams.
The Pirates are coming off an impressive showing at the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate last weekend. Seton Hall finished sixth in the field of 14 with a 32-over-par, 297-297-302-896, eight strokes ahead of their only other BIG EAST competition, Connecticut.
Senior Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) had the best tournament of his career, firing a 5-under-par, 69-69-73-211 to tie for third place among 74 individual golfers. The effort ties a performance by former teammate John Zur as the second-lowest par-72, three-round score in Seton Hall history. Additionally, his 5-under-par ties for the third-lowest score against par ever for a tournament. Spencer's third place tie is his ninth career top-10 finish and sixth top-5 finish, which ranks him seventh and sixth respectively all-time at Seton Hall.
Freshman Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) was the lone newcomer in the Pirates lineup last week and he impressed as well. Kim fired an 11-over-par, 74-76-77-227, for the second-lowest score on the team and to tie for 32nd place overall.
