SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall University men's golf head coach Clay White has announced the addition of two new student-athletes who will join the program in the fall.
David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) and Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) have made the commitment to join a Pirate team that took home three team tournament titles in 2011-12, tying the second-highest total in program history for wins in one academic year.
"I like what both David and Cory will bring to our team this fall," White said. "Both will compete for time in our starting lineup and push our current roster to perform at a higher level."
Cha comes to South Orange following one year at Hebron High School in Lewisville, Texas where he served as the captain of the boys' golf team. Despite having just picked up the game as a high school freshman, Cha quickly made a name for himself on the junior circuit. He placed in the top-five in both of his appearances on the Texas Junior Golf Tour in 2011-12 and also carded a top-16 finish over three rounds at the Elbit Systems of America Junior Championship at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas, an American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) event that featured a field of over 100 golfers.
A local product, Wilson joins the Pirates following four years as a varsity golfer at Newton High School. On the course, Wilson excelled, earning four consecutive All-Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selections while playing in the number one position for Newton. A proven leader, Wilson served as the team captain for the golf squad for three years and wearing the "C" for the ice hockey squad as a senior.
The 2012-13 version of the Pirates will tee-off the fall season on September 8th when they travel to Annapolis, Md. to take on the field at the Navy Fall Classic, hosted at the Naval Academy Golf Course.
