LEWISBURG, PA. - The Seton Hall women's golf team shot a final round 311 at the 2012 Bucknell Invitational, but had to settle for a second place tie as it was edged by Boston University by one stroke for the team title.
Freshman Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) and sophomore Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.), both of which performed masterfully in yesterday's second round, struggled on Sunday, posting scores of 84 and 79 respectively.
For the tournament, the Pirates fired a 91-over-par, 322-298-311-931. Seton Hall tied Rutgers for second place. The Scarlet Knights were tremendously consistent throughout the three-round event, shooting a 310-310, but it was one extra stroke, a 311 in round three, that kept them out of a first place tie-breaker situation.
Boston University won the event, advancing from a fourth place position following round two with a third-round 309.
The Pirates' achilles heel in this tournament was their 42-over-par, 322, in the first round. If the result was determined on the teams' second and third round scores alone, Seton Hall would have won by four strokes.
