Men's Golf Ties for Fourth at Temple Invite

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA. - Junior Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) fired a 1-over-par, 71, in Sunday's final round to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth place tie among 17 teams at the 2013 Temple Invitational at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
It's the Pirates' second straight top-5 finish after going nearly a year and a half without one.
Collectively, the Pirates shot identical 11-over-par, 291's, in both rounds to finish at 22-over-par with a 582. They finished 20 strokes behind Hartford, the team champions. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, St. John's, placed second, four strokes behind the leaders.
Kim notched his third career top-10 finish, tying for 10th place among 93 individual golfers. For the two-round event, he shot a 4-over-par, 73-71-144.
Senior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) finished just one stroke behind Kim and tied for 14th place overall with a 5-over-par, 73-72-145.
JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) was the third-best Pirate performer this weekend, finishing in a tie for 34th place following an 8-over-par, 73-75-148.
Freshman Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) had a strong second round to finish the tournament one stroke behind Harper with a 9-over-par, 76-73-149.
Sophomore Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) used a strong first round to finish at 15-over-par, with a 72-83-155.
Seton Hall has played in this tournament, formerly known as the Big 5 Classic, in five of the last six years, including the last three. Last season, Seton Hall finished 17th with an 89-over-par, 325-324-649, 40 shots behind the champion, Hartford. Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) was the low scorer for the Pirates with an 18-over-par, 78-80-158. In 2007 and 2008, Seton Hall recorded back-to-back second place finishes at this tournament.
Seton Hall will wrap up the fall season when it hosts the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate, October 20-21, at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J.
