NEW YORK, N.Y. - Junior Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the second time this season.
Manthorpe was instrumental in leading the Pirates to a 2-1 week, including a thrilling, five-set victory over Villanova for Seton Hall's first BIG EAST win of the season. In that match, she recorded her sixth triple-double of the season with season-highs of 14 kills and 51 assists to go with 18 digs. She also had five blocks and a .282 attack percentage in the strong all-around performance. To date, Manthorpe now has 16 career triple-doubles. Prior to her arrival at Seton Hall, no player in Pirates history had recorded a single triple-double.
On Tuesday vs. Hofstra, Manthorpe tallied a double-double with 24 assists and 11 digs in a three-set sweep. The talented Seton Hall setter has recorded at least a double-double in 14 of the team's 17 matches this season.
Other honorees this week include Michelle Sicner and Jess Bird both of Creighton, who were named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively. Those joining Manthorpe on the honor roll include Georgetown's Dani White, Marquette's Meghan Niemann, St. John's Aleksandra Wachowicz and Xavier's Abby Bessler.
Manthorpe and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Brooklyn for a non-conference match with LIU. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
