REUNION, FLA. – Junior
Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) shot a 4-over-par, 76, in round one to lead the Seton Hall men’s golf team at the 2013 BIG EAST Championship. As a team, the Pirates are currently in 12
th place. Collectively, the Pirates shot a 25-over-par, 313, in round one and trail the team leader, Notre Dame, by 25 strokes. Dunne is tied for 34
th among all individual golfers. The 12-team BIG EAST field is competing on the acclaimed Tom Watson Course, a par-72, 7,257-yard signature design by Watson himself that’s highlighted by fast, firm and wide rolling fairways as well as a variety of strategically placed bunkers and large greens.
Marc Kunesch (Newton, N.J.) is just one stroke behind Dunne following his first round 5-over-par, 77.
JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) is only one stroke behind Kunesch with a 6-over-par, 78.
Freshmen Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) and David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) are tied following their 10-over-par, 82’s.
