The inaugural Pirate Pride Challenge numbers have been tallied and it is with great pride that we announce the winner of both the highest percentage of overall donors, as well as highest increase of donors from last year to this year is the Volleyball Team. The Volleyball team will receive two $5,000 gifts to be used for their program and student-athletes.
The Volleyball team had 36% of their former and current student-athletes give back to the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund during the month of April. They were followed by Men's & Women's Golf (combined as one team) in second place, and Women's Soccer in third. The full standings can be found at www.piratepridechallenge.com.
The Volleyball team also won the second $5,000 gift by having the highest increase of donors from '11-'12 to '12-'13. They had more than a 30% increase of donors from last year. The second place team was Women's Swimming & Diving followed by Women's Soccer in third.
"I am extremely impressed with our coaches, student-athletes and alumni who helped with our first ever Pirate Pride Challenge. The amount of donations that came in during this one month challenge were a true testament to the pride that our alumni and student-athletes have for Seton Hall and the Athletic Department. Thank you to all of those who participated and I hope we can continue to build off this challenge next year," said Patrick Lyons, Director of Athletics.
Over $50,000 was raised with the inaugural Pirate Pride Challenge and was a great success for the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund. More than 300 gifts were made by former and current student-athletes for this challenge in the month of April. Seven of Seton Hall Athletics' fourteen teams had 100% full participation from their current student-athletes giving to the challenge.
We thank all of those who gave to the Pirate Pride Challenge and please keep a look out for the Pirate Pride Challenge next year. For more information on the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund, please visit www.pirateblue.com or call 973-275-2202.
