NEW YORK, N.Y. - Seton Hall senior Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named to the season's final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
It's the second time this season she's been named to the honor roll. She was also twice named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Manthorpe spearheaded a Pirates' effort last week that included a pair of road sweeps at Georgetown and at Creighton. The senior setter registered doubles in both matches, lifting Seton Hall to a final regular season record of 27-6 overall and 15-3 in the BIG EAST Conference. At Georgetown on Friday, Manthorpe tallied a match high 39 assists to go with 10 kills and seven digs. At Creighton, the regular season champions, on Sunday, she recorded 36 assists and 10 digs.
Marquette's Autumn Bailey was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Creighton's Melanie Jereb earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Xavier's Jesse Earl was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Those joining Manthorpe on the Honor Roll include Creighton's Jess Bird, Xavier's Abbey Bessler and both Gabby Benda and Lauren Houg of Marquette.
Manthorpe and the rest of the Pirates will return to action this Friday when they begin play at the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2011. The second-seeded Pirates will face third-seeded Marquette in Milwaukee. Match time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live via the BIG EAST Digital Network and can be seen on the Fox Sports Go app.
