SETON HALL STATUS
Seton Hall completed a three-game sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson last weekend. On Friday, the Pirates defeated the Knights, 3-1, thanks in large part to Josh Prevost's third complete game of the season. Tyler Boyd and Zack Weigel had two hits apiece, while Chris Selden had a team-best two RBIs. On Saturday, Seton Hall came back from a 5-0 deficit with 10 unanswered runs to defeat FDU, 10-5. Luke Cahill pitched six innings of shutout relief, while scattering just three hits to pick up the win. Boyd and Kyle Grimm had three hits apiece. Boyd's three-run home run in the third inning put Seton Hall on top for good. Sal Annunziata hit his first home run of the season. On Sunday, the Pirates rode Anthony Elia's arm to a 5-1 victory. Elia pitched a career-high eight innings and gave up just one earned run for his second win of the season. Offensively, Selden had two more hits for the Pirates. Seton Hall had two mid-week games scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, but both were postponed due to cold temperatures and inclement weather. On Thursday, the Pirates defeated Saint Peter's, 11-3, for the program's 2,000th victory.
SETON HALL - IONA SERIES
Seton Hall and Iona will meet for the 35th time in history on Friday. To date, the Pirates hold a commanding, 30-4, all-time record against the Gaels. Seton Hall has won nine straight games in the series and hasn't lost since 1985. Most recently, the Pirates defeated Iona, 4-2, at Owen T. Carroll Field last season. Anthony Elia pitched seven shutout innings in a no decision. Giuseppe Papaccio and Kyle Grimm had three hits apiece for the Pirates.
SETON HALL - IONA SERIES
Seton Hall and Central Connecticut State will meet for only the third and fourth time in history during Saturday's doubleheader. The Pirates won the only two prior meetings, an 8-4 victory in 1996 and an 8-2 win in 2010. Seton Hall pounded out 14 hits in their most recent victory over the Blue Devils. The Pirates have never played an away game in the series.
