
Whitehead Competes in McDonald's All American Game

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall commit Isaiah Whitehead (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) will compete in the 2014 McDonald's All American Game on Wednesday which tips at 9:30 p.m. eastern on ESPN. Whitehead was selected as one of 24 high school players across the country to play in the 37th annual event at the United Center in Chicago.
Whitehead is the fifth Pirate signee to participate in the prestigious contest, and the first since Andre Barrett and Eddie Griffin did in 2000. Associate head coach Shaheen Holloway was the game's Most Valuable Player in 1996, while Luther Wright was the first Pirate to garner McDonald's All American status in 1990. Whitehead is also the first New York City player to be named to the McDonald's All American Team since 2010, and he is the only selection who signed with a BIG EAST school this year.
The 6-foot-4 senior from perennial power Lincoln High School is ranked as the top shooting guard in the 2014 class by Scout.com and he is the #14 overall prospect according to ESPN.com. Whitehead scored over 2,000-points for the Railsplitters and was named Mr. New York Basketball, which is award to the top senior in the state; joining former Lincoln stars Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson who also earned the honor.
