NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sophomore Luke Cahill (Tinton Falls, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Cahill was instrumental in the Pirates winning a road BIG EAST series at Georgetown last weekend. The right-hander pitched seven strong innings in Saturday's rubber game, leading Seton Hall to an easy 9-3 victory. Cahill gave up only one earned run over seven innings and struck out five batters, while not issuing a walk. Cahill is now tied for third in the BIG EAST with seven wins and has the fifth-best ERA in the conference at 2.56. It's the first time in his career that he's been honored with a BIG EAST weekly award.
St. John's Matt Harris was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Creighton's Matt Warren earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week recognition. Those joining Cahill on the Honor Roll include: Butler's Gunner Johnson, Creighton's Matt Gerber, Xavier's Daniel Rizzie and Georgetown's Nick Collins.
Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday, April 22 when it hosts in-state rival Monmouth for a mid-week contest at Owen T. Carroll Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
