
MGolf Finishes Sixth at the BIG EAST Championship

OKATIE, S.C. - Senior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) shot an even-par, 72, in the final round of his collegiate career to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a sixth place team finish at the 2014 BIG EAST Championship.
Collectively, Seton Hall matched its second round score of a 15-over-par, 303, in Tuesday's final round, but the Pirates were passed by three teams to settle for a sixth place finish in the nine-team field. Seton Hall finished with a 47-over-par, 305-303-303-911. St. John's claimed their first team championship since 1989 with a score of 18-over-par. Marquette finished second at 28-over-par, while DePaul was third at 35-over-par. Xavier finished just one stroke ahead of the Pirates for fifth place, while Georgetown was only three strokes better for fourth.
Dunne finished tied for 16th place with a three-round total of 13-over-par with an 80-77-72-229.
Seton Hall's top finisher for the tournament was freshman phenom Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines). Go tied for seventh place among the 45 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 74-72-77-223. He was cruising in second place for most of the round, but carded an "8" on the par-4 18th hole to finish in a tie for seventh. St. John's Ryan McCormick won the individual championship by eight strokes at 5-under-par.
JT Harper (Pebble Beach, N.J.) also had a fantastic final round with a 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, he tied for 14th overall with a 12-over-par, 77-78-73-228.
Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) had a difficult time in Tuesday's final round, carding a 12-over-par, 84. The sophomore finishes the event at 21-over-par with a 77-76-84-237.
Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) shaved 10 strokes off his second round score in Tuesday's final round. Kim finishes the three-round event at 33-over-par with a 77-91-81-249.
The BIG EAST Championship concludes the 2013-14 competition year for the Seton Hall men's golf team.
