
Jenkins Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sophomore Derek Jenkins (Annandale, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday.
Jenkins helped lead Seton Hall to a 3-2 record last week. The speedy center fielder led the team with a .500 on-base percentage, seven runs scored and eight stolen bases last in five games last week. On April 2 at Princeton, Jenkins reached base five times, going 2-for-3 with three walks, three runs scored and three stolen bases. At Butler on Saturday, he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. On Sunday at Butler, the BIG EAST's top base-stealing threat swiped two more. Jenkins now leads the conference with 16 stolen bases.
St. John's Jarred Mederos was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Butler's Gunner Johnson earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week recognition. Those joining Jenkins on the Honor Roll include: Villanova's Max Beermann, Xavier's Daniel Rizzie, Georgetown's Ryan Busch and Creighton's Matt Warren.
Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, April 9 when it hosts Wagner for a mid-week contest at Owen T. Carroll Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
