TUCSON, ARIZ. - Seton Hall's Anthony Pacillo (Lyndhurst, N.J.) was named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team, selected by Collegiate Baseball, on Wednesday.
Pacillo is one of only eight left-handed pitchers on the impressive national list of collegiate newcomers.
A 6-foot-1, 205-pound lefty out of Saint Peter's Prep, Pacillo was named New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Rookie Pitcher of the Year after boasting a 4-2 ledger in 13 appearances (nine starts) with a 2.98 ERA. He chalked up a .253 opposing batting average with one complete game shutout. In 63.1 innings he struck out 36 batters while walking just 13 and allowed 21 earned runs and 59 hits on the season.
Pacillo began the season in the bullpen, became the team's regular mid-week starter soon thereafter, and in the final month, worked his way into the weekend rotation. On April 29 at Saint Peter's, he threw his first career complete-game (7), shutout, while striking out five batters and walking only one. Earlier that month, he gave up just one hit over seven shutout innings with a career-high eight strikeouts at Princeton.
