ANNAPOLIS, MD. - Junior Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) shot a 3-under-par, 68, and has position the Seton Hall men's golf team to the team lead following round one at the Navy Fall Classic.
Snouffer, a transfer from Adelphi playing in only his second tournament as a Pirate, trails both Kyle Martin of Delaware and John Hulede of Towson by only one stroke for the individual lead.
Collectively, the Pirates shot an even-par, 284, and currently lead both Cornell and Delaware by four strokes. Two other BIG EAST schools are in the field. Georgetown is tied for fourth, six strokes behind Seton Hall, while Villanova is in eighth place, 12 strokes behind the Pirates.
"It's really nice to not count a score of 74," said head coach Clay White. "This team is starting to come together and we're beginning to show what we're capable of."
Senior JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) shot an even-par, 71, and is currently tied for eighth place among 56 individual golfers. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) finished only one stroke behind Harper with a 1-over-par, 72, and is tied for 13th place. Junior David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) is only one stroke behind O'Brien with a 2-over-par, 73, and is tied for 17th place. Finally, Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) was one stroke behind Cha with a 3-over-par, 74.
The two-round event is taking place at the par-71 Naval Academy Golf Course. In addition to Seton Hall and two teams from host Navy, seven other teams are vying for the title including Brown, Cornell, Delaware, Georgetown, Saint Joseph's Towson and Villanova.
