The Course:
The stunning layout has been designed by Arnold Palmer and the design team at Arnold Palmer Design Company (including Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both NC State graduates). With breathtaking views of the Raleigh skyline and the award winning Centennial Campus, the golf course has become a favorite in the golf community. The course has unique features that set it apart from other courses in the region. It represents the evolution in golf course architecture towards sustainability; a golf course that fits into and protects the natural environment. As with Bethpage Black, Bandon Dunes, Whistling Straits, and Pine Valley, it leans heavily on traditional Scottish designs while accommodating the natural landscape.
The Field:
The field will consist of 16 teams. Including Seton Hall and host N.C. State, participating schools include: Augusta Univ., Campbell, Chattanooga, Drexel, George Washington, Hartford, Lipscomb, Loyola (Md.), UNC-Greensboro, USC-Upstate, Temple, Western Carolina, West Virginia and Wofford.
Last Time at Lonnie Poole:
Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) fired an even-par, 71, in the final round to lead the Pirates to a sixth place finish in last year's event. Snouffer finished the three-round event at even-par with a 74-68-71-213 to finish in a tie for eighth place among 93 individual golfers.
Collectively, the Pirates finished sixth with a 25-over-par, 300-282-295-877. Seton Hall finished 31 strokes behind the team champion and host, N.C. State.
Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) finished at 3-over-par with a 70-71-75-216, to tie for 15th overall.
The Lineup:
The Pirates will bring six golfers to Raleigh this week. For a fourth straight tournament, Snouffer will occupy the top spot in the lineup. Seniors David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) and Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) are second and third respectively. Freshman Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) is fourth and classmate Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) will play in the lineup's final spot. Junior Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) will compete as an individual.
Last Tournament:
Go shot his third straight sub-par round to lift the Pirates to a fifth place finish at the 2015 Hartford Hawks Invitational last week. Go finished tied for fourth among 108 individual golfers with a 6-under-par, 70-69-71-210. It matches the lowest three-round, par-72 tournament score in Seton Hall history and his 6-under is the second-lowest against par for a Pirate.
Collectively, Seton Hall shot a 9-over-par, 297, in round three, but was able to remain in the tournament's top five. For the three-round event, the Pirates finished with a 7-over-par, 282-292-297-871. The Hall finished well ahead of its only BIG EAST competitor, Villanova, which had a three-round total of 69-over-par.
Tee Times:
There will be a shotgun start on Monday at 8:00 a.m. Teams will tee off from holes #1 and #10 on Tuesday.
