The Field:
Seton Hall will compete among one of the most-competitive fields for a regular season tournament in recent memory. The 2015 field features 16 teams, including five Ivy League schools and participants from the ACC, SEC and Big Ten Conferences. In addition to Seton Hall and two teams from host Yale, competitors include: Boston Univ., Boston College, Clemson, Columbia, Furman, Georgetown, Harvard, IUPUI, LIU-Brooklyn, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Princeton and Vanderbilt. Both Clemson and Vanderbilt are currently ranked in GolfWeek's Top-30.
The Course:
Designed by champion golfer and co-founder of the USGA Charles Blair Macdonald, the par-71, 6,044-yard Yale Golf Course is an exemplar of the early American golf course and has consistently been voted the number one college golf course in America.
Last Time at Yale:
Ali Kruse and Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) each shot a 2-over-par, 73, in the final round to help lift the Pirates to a fourth place finish in last year's event.
Collectively, Seton Hall finished the three-round event at 46-over-par with a 306-295-297-898, 11 strokes behind the team champion and host, Yale. Harvard finished second, six strokes ahead of the Pirates, while BIG EAST foe Xavier placed third, four strokes ahead of The Hall.
Zabrosky turned in the best tournament performance of her career. She placed third among 89 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 71-74-73-218. Zabrosky's third place finish is the best in her career and her +5 was four strokes lower than her previous best tournament vs. par. She finished just four strokes behind the individual champion, Yale's Elisabeth Bernabe.
The Lineup:
This weekend, the Pirates will go with Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio), Zabrosky, Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio), McKenzie Cutter (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.), in that order. Both freshmen, Gianna Tomeo (Bradenton, Fla.) and Jamie Greene (Troy, Mich.) will also make the trip and compete as individuals.
Last Tournament:
The Pirates are coming off an 11th place tie at the 2015 Princeton Invitational on Sunday.
Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) was the top individual finisher for the Pirates. After a stellar 5-over-par, 77, in round one that left her just three shots off the individual lead, she shot a disappointing 12-over-par, 84, in round two. Tenhundfeld finished with a 17-over-par, 77-84-161. She finished 12 shots behind 2014 BIG EAST individual champion, Georgetown's Jackie Eleey, who won the event by three strokes.
