
Sophomores Guide Pirates to Eighth Place Standing at Yale

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) shot a 4-over-par, 75, and Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.) was only one stroke higher to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to an eighth place standing after round one of the 2015 Yale Women's Intercollegiate.
Pantelas is currently tied for 16th place among 86 individual golfers and trails a pair of leaders by seven strokes. Fouse turned in her lowest career round with a 5-over-par, 76, and is tied for 21st place.
Collectively, Seton Hall played well in round one amidst a very competitive field. The Pirates are in eighth place following a 24-over-par, 308, and trail the team leader, Furman, by 18 strokes after round one. The Pirates were eight strokes better than their only BIG EAST competition, Georgetown.

The Field:
Seton Hall will compete among one of the most-competitive fields for a regular season tournament in recent memory. The 2015 field features 16 teams, including five Ivy League schools and participants from the ACC, SEC and Big Ten Conferences. In addition to Seton Hall and two teams from host Yale, competitors include: Boston Univ., Boston College, Clemson, Columbia, Furman, Georgetown, Harvard, IUPUI, LIU-Brooklyn, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Princeton and Vanderbilt. Both Clemson and Vanderbilt are currently ranked in GolfWeek's Top-30.
The Course:
Designed by champion golfer and co-founder of the USGA Charles Blair Macdonald, the par-71, 6,044-yard Yale Golf Course is an exemplar of the early American golf course and has consistently been voted the number one college golf course in America.
Tee Times:
Seton Hall will tee off of hole No. 1 on Saturday with Cutter getting the Pirates started at 9:30 a.m. The Hall will be paired with golfers from Penn and Princeton.
