CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. -- Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) fired a 3-under-par, 69, in Tuesday's final round to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the 2015 BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club.
After a disappointing start, Go was brilliant in his final two rounds. On Tuesday, he was 3-under on the front nine, birdying holes #3, #5 and #6. Go was even-par on the back nine to settle at 3-under for the round. For the 54 holes, Go finished with a 3-over-par, 80-70-69-219 to tie for third place. The sophomore finished just four strokes behind St. John's Dylan Crowley and Marquette's Patrick Sanchez. Crowley defeated Sanchez in a playoff to claim the individual title.
Collectively, the Pirates weren't able to match their sparkling second round score and finished with an 18-over-par, 306, in round three. For the tournament, the Pirates finished at 46-over-par with a 308-296-306-910. The Hall finished 13 strokes behind the team champion, Marquette.
Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) was consistent again on Tuesday, finishing with a 2-over-par, 74. The junior used an eagle on hole #3 and a birdie on hole #9 to shoot 1-over on the front nine. On the back nine, he had eight pars and just one bogey. Snouffer finishes his first BIG EAST Championship in eighth place with a 6-over-par, 77-71-74-222.
After two very strong rounds, senior JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) stumbled a bit in his final collegiate round. Harper was just 3-over-par on the front nine, but was over par on six of the nine holes on the back nine to finish the round with a 10-over-par, 82. Still, the senior turned in a strong performance for the 54 holes, finishing at 12-over-par with a 72-74-82-228 to tie for 12th place.
Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) was only 1-over par at the turn thanks to birdies on holes #6 and #8, but shot 8-over on the back, firing over par on seven of the nine holes. Wilson registered a 9-over-par, 81, on Tuesday. For the tournament, he shot a 37-over-par, 91-81-81-253.
Finally, Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) finished round three with an 18-over-par, 90. He finishes the three-round event with a 41-over-par, 79-88-90-257.
Marquette has earned the BIG EAST's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Callawassie Island Golf Club features three nine-hole courses. Most of the competition was played out on the Dogwood Course on Sunday and Monday. In Tuesday's final round, the first 10 threesomes teed off on Dogwood and the final five played the Magnolia Course. Five student-athletes played for each of the nine teams, with the top four scores counting towards the team cumulative.
The BIG EAST Championship concludes the 2014-15 academic year for the Seton Hall men's golf team. The Pirates will be back in action this fall.
